Prof. Bannon holds the Bosch Chair of Surgery as well as the Professorial Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sydney Uni.

The Charles Perkins Centre is a multidisciplinary research centre committed to improving global health.

The focus of IAS is on surgical research and education at RPA. Prof. Bannon is the founding co-chairman of the institute.

Prof. Bannon is and active member of the board of cardiothoracic surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Prof. Bannon is the immediate past president, and remains an active member of the national cardiac surgical database.
